While classified as a eight-bit computer, the MSX has a 10-bit processor. SONY was not the only manufacture to build an MSX computer as it was an open standard developed by Nishi. Many other companies in Japan and Korea made computers based on the same standard, but the MSX 1 is the most basic of that design.
The Hit-Bit 75 was very popular in Europe where there were a lot of peripherals designed for it. It has joystick ports, two cartridge slots, RGB output, etc.
